In 2014 the Bettinelli family started to develop Upper Range, a complex, multi-faceted vineyard on a former cattle ranch sprawling between the Rutherford AVA and east to Lake Hennessey and up to Pritchard Hill. This vineyard celebrates a collection of soil types, aspects and elevations but is bound by one common denominator: rocks...lot's of rocks.
The vineyard was planted and is farmed with the same meticulous attention to detail and viticultural quality that characterize our other sites. This is the newest vineyard site to contribute to Accendo, making its debut in the inaugural 2018 Accendo Cellars “Laurea”. As the years have passed our understanding of the site has deepened and the vines have grown more mature Upper Range is poised to contribute to our flagship bottling.
